His obit referred to him as "one of the last pioneers of the fifties." He came to America from Germany, stayed awhile in St. Louis and then came to America to pan for gold in 1852 when he was but a teenager of 19. After about 8 years as a miner, he returned to St. Louis where he married Mary Duebbering. They decided to go to California and arrived in time for the Great Flood of 1862. Mr. Kleinsorge was successful in the grocery business. He and his wife were married for 50 years and the parents of: Charles, Emma, Albert, Frank, Henry, and Carrie. (Info from Sacramento Union obit)
