Vera G. Cordes, 92, of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017. She was born on March 30, 1925 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to the late Harry Austin and Lillie Mae Collins Shaffer.

Vera and her husband William resided in Bay City for 40 years. She was a member of the Auxiliary of VFW Post 2438 and Calvary Baptist Church.

Vera and William were married for 71 years. She loved her family. Cherishing her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William Cordes; children Larry Cordes (Lynette) Cordes and Charles (Kathy) Cordes; sister Ethel Chapman,; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother-in-law Oliver Cordes, sister-in-law Gladys Withrow, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday , June 18 from 6:00 to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 19, 2017 at Taylor Bros Funeral Home. Intermentwill follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
