J. J. Klinge Dies
Funeral services for Joseph J. Klinge, 84, a resident of Grand Island for more than 75 years, were conducted in St. Mary's Cathedral, June 2. . . Mr. Klinge died May 30. . . Burial was in the Grand Island cemetery.
He was born Dec. 30, 1866 (sic), in Pennsylvania to Gottfried and Thereza Klinge. The family moved to Grand Island when he was a small boy. He attended the public schools of Grand Island and his first work after leaving school was as a farm hand. Mr. Klinge later went to St. Libory where he was engaged in the hardware and tavern business for more than nine years. He served as county commissioner of Howard county for two years. In 1901, he returned to Grand Island and was in the tavern business until 1915. . .
Mr. Kling's first marriage was to Miss Lena Eberhart, who died seven months after the wedding. He and Mary Roepker were married May 1, 1894, and they recently observed their 56th wedding anniversary.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. E. J. Sedlacek, Green River, Wyo.; four grand children, Mrs. M. H. Nietfeldt, Ogallala, who was cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Klinge in their home; Mrs. A. G. Gruber and Mrs. James H. Kelly, both of Denver, Colo.; and Miss Emily Ann Sedlacek, Green River, Wyo.; one brother, H. J. Klinge, Preston, Ida.; and one sister, Mrs. Tennie Tockey, Los Angeles, Calif. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Klinge, and four brothers. . .

J. J. Klinge, Resident 75 Years, Dies
Former President Of Brewing Firm; Rites Saturday
J. J. Klinge, 84, a resident of this community and retired president of the dick Brothers Brewing Company of Grand Island, died this morning in a local hospital.
He had been seriously ill for three weeks. The family home is at 1021 West Third.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's cathedral where a requiem mass will be offered. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
Joseph J. Kling was born December 30, 1866 in Pennsylvania to Gottfried and Theresa Klinge. The family moved to Grand Island when he was a small boy. HE attended the public schools of Grand Island and his first work after leaving school was as a farm hand.
Later he went to St. Libory where he engaged in the hardware and tavern business for more than nine years. He served as a county commissioner of Howard county for two years.
In 1901 he returned to Grand Island and engaged in the tavern business until 1915. He organized the Central Storage Company in 1917, and in 1940 he became president of the Dick Brothers Brewing company, a position he held until his retirement two years ago.
Mr. Klinge was active in the business and social life of Grand Island and was a member of the Platt Duetsche Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. HE was a member of the Catholic church all his life and was a member of St. Mary's cathedral parish.
Mr. Klinge's first marriage was to Miss Lena Eberhart, who died seven months after the wedding.
