Norman B. Siems, 88, of Melvin died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday (June 20, 2017) at the Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.

Mr. Siems was born on March 11, 1929 in Valley City, North Dakota, a son of Henry and Stella (Schafer) Siems. He married Lolita Luis on Nov. 29, 1959 in Melvin. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Richard (Tracey) Siems and their children, Rebecca and Aaron; a daughter, Sandy (John) Fraser and their children, Jay and Amy;and a brother, John (Shirley) Siems.

He was preceded in death by a his parents and a sister, Suzanne Muehlenpfort.

Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a radioman third class.

He was ditch commissioner for the Big 4 Drainage District and a member of the Ford County Board.

Mr. Siems owned and operated Norman Siems Crib Banding, was a milk tester, worked at M&W Gear Company as a welder and later as a lathe operator in the 1960s and 1970s, then was employed at Kraft Foods in the late 1970s as a machinery repairman.

He was also a member of the Gibson City Masonic Lodge 733 AF&AM and was a very active Shriner.
