Nancy was born and raised in Charlotte, the daughter of Nellie Marie Cranfill Posey and Hestor W. Posey Nancy was a graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte class of 1957 and a Carolinas Carrousel Princess her junior year in 1956.

Nancy married Charles Dean King in 1958. Nancy and Dean started out in a house on Tillman Rd. in Charlotte, NC. Nancy attended Queens Business College and started her career at Western Electric soon after. They started their family in 1960 with the birth of their first child, Deana Jane King. In 1962 their second child, Charles Dean King Jr. died at birth due to complications which was a very hard time for Nancy and Dean. In 1964 they had their third child Charles Scott King. At this point Nancy decided to end her working career at stay home with her children.

Later in 1964 the family moved into a new house they had built on Dellinger Circle in Charlotte, NC and is still the King family home.

Nancy loved her family and would be the first to rescue a cat or dog in need. Nancy also loved working in the yard. Her plants, flowers and trees were her pride and joy.
Later in life, Nancy battled multiple health issues and continued to battle through complications and pain for the remainder of her life.

Nancy was preceded in death by, Charles Dean King Jr. (Son), Hester and Nellie Posey (Parents), Charles Dean King (Husband), Deana King Proctor (Daughter) and Danial Shane Elam (Grandson).
