Jeanne Marie Blocker was born in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of John Joseph "Jay" and Marilyn Ann "Mary" Mead Blocker. Her adventurous spirit lead her to live for a short time in California and Colorado before settling in Barrington, Illinois, to raise her three handsome boys.

She was a founding member and dedicated employee for 29 years of Select Staffing, where she helped thousands of people finds jobs.

Jeanne was always one to help and volunteer for school, church, and work activities and never missed her family's major events: dance and piano recitals, sports games, baptisms, communions, graduations, and weddings.

She was truly selfless and felt joy in supporting others. She loved to meet new people, and her door was always open. She believed in listening more than talking, and those fortunate enough to have spent time with her always walked away with more than when they arrived. Jeanne left a mark on everyone's heart that will never wear off. Her spirit will live forever in those who knew her.

Jeanne Marie Garms, age 63, ended her 14-year courageous battle with melanoma peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at JourneyCare Hospice.

Jeanne is survived by Daniel, her beloved husband of 33 years; her loving sons Gabe, Matt (Jeana), and Elliott (Raissa) Garms; her devoted mother, Marilyn Ann Blocker; her loyal siblings John Frederick "Fred" Blocker, Barbara (Robert) Newman, Jim (Marsha) Blocker, Janet (Gary) Leeper, Elizabeth (Dave) Bright, Jenny (Todd) Rucinski, and Josh (Sara) Blocker; and adored grandson Weston. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dino Burns; and father, John Joseph Blocker.

Davenport Family Funeral Home, Barrington, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. July 15 in the Chapel at Willow Creek Community Church, South Barrington, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A celebration of Jeanne's life was held for relatives on Saturday, July 21.
