He was preceded in death by his parents Mayor Albert P. and Louise M. Waibel and his wife of 53 years, Joy Ann Rader Waibel.Al was born on December 12, 1925 in San Diego, CA. He graduated from Oceanside-Carlsbad High School in 1944, served in the U.S. Navy, and played football at the University of Denver. In 1958, the Waibel family moved to Fallbrook where Al settled into his roles of coach, counselor and teacher for the next 28 years. In addition, Al enjoyed his summer jobs traveling for Paul Ecke Poinsettias and also as a security guard at the Del Mar fair and racetrack.
