Jennifer Raven Nevin, age 23, of Tuscaloosa, died July 17, 2017. She was born in Tuscaloosa on September 8, 1993 to Linda and Randy Nevin.

She attended Moundville Elementary School where she was enrolled in the gifted program. She began Capital School in the sixth grade where she graduated with an honors high school diploma as a result of teachers who never gave up on her. The faculty and staff of the Capital School should be commended for their excellent job in motivating Jennifer to excel. They saw her for her potential to do anything she wanted.

Jennifer was proud of her business; Immaculate Cleaning. She always did her best at every job even if it meant cleaning all night long, and she often charged only what people could afford. Cleaning was more than a job to her - it was a chance to prove that she was of value to society and an opportunity for her to shine.

Another high point in Jennifer's life was when she was enrolled at Shelton State Community College. Jennifer was close to earning her degree which would have made one of her dreams come true. Her instructors were so understanding and encouraging.

Jennifer loved her friends dearly, and she was extraordinarily generous. She was always there for her friends even if it meant paying a power bill or giving them a place to sleep on her sofa. Jennifer always found the good in everyone and was an example of kindness and compassion to all.

The love of Jennifer's life was her five-year-old son, Joshua, who brought so much joy to her. He was the one who kept her going during the difficult times in her life. His safety and wellbeing was her first priority. She wanted the best for him, and she always saw that he got it.

Jennifer's family and friends will miss the loving, caring and compassionate person who died much too young before reaching her potential and realizing her dreams.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Randall Nevin, with whom she shared the initials "JRN" and who loved his only daughter so very much. Her brother, James Randall Nevin, Jr. also preceeded her in death.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Linda Nevin and Tim Eady; her brother and sister-in-law, Will Nevin and Kate Furek; her fiancé, Matt Snipes; and her son, Joshua Snipes; paternal grandfather, James Ballard (Joan); and many extended family members and friends.

Services will be held on July 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Moundville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Carlon Tibbs officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to A Woman's Place at Indian Rivers Mental Health Center.

Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is handling the arrangements.
