Mrs. Virgil Rice is Victim of Accident -

An Archer woman, Mrs. Virgil Rice, a former resident of Grand Island, died Sunday morning from injuries suffered in a three-car accident just east of Grand Island on U.S. Highway 30. Her husband, driver of the car in which she was a passenger, was listed in "satisfactory but guarded" condition at the hospital Monday morning. Late on the afternoon of December 31, Mrs. Rice was the driver of one of two cars involved in a fatality accident 7.5 miles west of Central City at a county road intersection, but she escaped with broken ribs and lacerations....

Berdele Elizabeth Rice was born June 30, 1925, at St. Libory to William and Lucy Roepker Abel. She attended school at St. Libory and completed her formal schooling with graduation from Grand Island High School. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., until the time of her first marriage. She and Robert Rehder were married in 1947. Mr. Rehder died in 1957.

Mr. and Mrs. Rice were married June 21, 1967 at Thedford. They had made their home on the farm near Archer from that time. Mrs. Rice was a member of the parish at St. Michael's Church in Central City and was affiliated with an auxiliary of the Eagles.

She is survived by her husband; three children: Miss Lorinda Rehder of Lincoln and Marc and Lynelle Rice, both at home; her brother, Gordon W. Abel of Temple, Arizona, and two sisters, Mrs. Pat Cordes of Grand Island and Mrs. Marvin Hoge of McCook
