BRUCE BENSON RHODES (Dusty) died at home - he was the son of Charles Clayton and Carolyn Unger Rhodes. He was a retired, 20 year, Master Chief Petty Officer of the U.S. Navy who served during the Vietnam War and had a long career in law enforcement in Orlando, FL. He worked as the Felony Investigator for the State Attorney's Office in Orlando and later as Chief Investigator for Lockheed Martin. After moving to Virginia, he served as Magistrate for Petersburg and Dinwiddie County, and in 2008 was elected Sheriff of Dinwiddie County. He received numerous awards and citations, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Dusty was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and a member of the Sutherland Ruritan Club. Surviving are his wife of 32 years,daughters and spouse, grandchildresn and great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses.
