Kathryn Ciesla, 83, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday evening, July 26, 2017 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Kathryn was born on May 1, 1934 in Buffalo, NY to the late Theodore and Wanda (Partika) Ciesla.
Kathryn received both her bachelors and masters in science from Buffalo State, and received her doctoral degree in science from Ball State University. She retired from Duval County Schools in Jacksonville, FL as a chemistry teacher and also taught at Ball State University and Edward Waters College in Jacksonville. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, traveling, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her special friend and caregiver, Mary Wechter. She is also survived by brothers, Bill (Nina) Ciesla of MD and Tom (Margo) Ciesla of Los Angeles; niece, Megan Ciesla of Buffalo, NY and caregiver, Tracy Stephens.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn is preceded in death by her brother, David Ciesla .
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Leo the Great Church in Buffalo, NY. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Buffalo. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
