Virginia Beach - With great sadness, the family of Gregory Paul Vita-creative, passionate, diligent, and oh so kind-announce his sudden passing on July 24, 2017 at the age of 26 at his home in College Park, Maryland. Greg is loved and remembered by his parents, Karen and James (Jimmy) Vita; brothers Jason and Ryan (Sandra); niece Sophia; beloved grandparents Terri (Mastracco) and Joseph Vita, Jr.; cherished aunts, uncles and cousins, from the Cooper, King, Longhi and Salerno families; and many dear friends.

Greg was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA. Following an education at Norfolk Academy and First Colonial High School, he graduated in 2015 from the Corcoran School of Art & Design in Washington D.C., earning a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. Athletic and multi-talented, he enjoyed surfing, skateboarding and music, which inspired his true passion, his art.

Drawing and painting from an early age, Greg explored various traditional and experimental techniques, developing a remarkable talent and career for himself. He excelled in many artistic endeavors and received numerous accolades for his work. He found a unique niche in papermaking, mastering that craft as an extremely hardworking business owner, and later as a teacher and resident artist at the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville, Maryland.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church (1279 N Great Neck Rd.) in Virginia Beach on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 12:00PM. A special exhibit of his art will be showcased at an additional memorial celebration of his life on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center (4318 Gallatin St.) in Hyattsville, MD from 6:00 until 8:00PM. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Scholarship Fund in his name, established by Pyramid. Donations may be made online via https://squareup.com/store/pyramidatlantic/ or sent directly to the studio at 4318 Gallatin St, Hyattsville, MD 20781, referencing "Gregory Vita Scholarship Fund."
