Dorothy Moorman, 88, of Melrose, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Doug Liebsch concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose following the service.

Visitation will be held at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose on Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. with a rosary immediately following by the Christian Women Tuesday evening.

Dorothy Ella Kemper was born, along with twin sister, Dolores, in Melrose, on June, 28, 1929, the daughters of Bernadine and Joseph Kemper. She married Jerome "Romie" Moorman on July 6, 1954, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. They lived in Melrose all of their married life. Dorothy was a homemaker, raising their five children, and was a babysitter for a few families. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies, buns and bread and later years visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and the Christian Women.

She is survived by her children, Carol Moorman of Melrose, Mark (Barb) Moorman of St. Francis, Tom Moorman of Melrose, Audrey (Jim) Negen of Rice and Laura (Mike) Hellmann of Melrose; grandchildren Adam, Aaron, Matthew (Emily) and Krista Moorman; Brandon and Chris (Kieshia) Negen; and Holly Hellmann; great-grandchildren Skylar and Mia Moorman; siblings Marcella Radermacher of Sauk Centre; Loretta Didier of Freeport; twin Dolores (Roger) Rasmussen of Wyoming, MN; Adeline Kemper of Spokane, WA; Ray (Dorothy) Kemper of Barnesville; Irene Harmeling of Newport; Marina Koopmeiners of St. Cloud; and Marv (Betty) Kemper of Melrose.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Dennis; husband, Romie; siblings Helen Hunt, Viola Evans and Rich Kemper; and brothers and sisters-in-law Norman Radermacher, Al "Shorty" Didier, John Harmeling, Linus Koopmeiners, Marie Wiener, Marcella Lancaster, Casper, Jr., Jack and Bob Moorman.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Adam, Aaron and Matthew Moorman and Brandon and Chris Negen and Mike Hellmann. Honorary pallbearers will be Virginia Tise, Ginny and Tom Borgerding and Alice Klasen. Cross bearer will be Holly Hellmann and scripture bearer will be Krista Moorman. Eucharistic minister will be Jim Negen and lectors will be Barb Moorman and Krista Moorman. Gift bearers will be Kieshia Negen and Emily Moorman.
