She was born Nov. 15, 1920, south of Ellis in Glencoe Township, Trego County, to Louis and Stephanie (Schuster) Locker.
She attended Silver Lake country school and was a 1938 graduate of Ellis High School.
She married Leonard Erbert in Ellis. He preceded her in death.
The couple moved to Wichita and worked at Cessna. Later, they were called home to manage the Erbert family farm 5 miles north of Ellis, where they remained. They celebrated 63 years of marriage and nine children. She was a retired Travenol employee. She was Home and School president at St. Mary’s for a number of years, a parish choir member, and later a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. She also served as a 4-H sewing leader and volunteer for ARC of Hays. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and canning. She was especially fond of children and animals.
Survivors include four daughters, Jeanette Guinn, Tulsa, Okla., Judy Elman, Iola, Wis., Jane Zook, Larned, and Jacqueline Murphy, Ellis; three sons, Mark, Tucson, and Fredrick and Patrick, both of Wichita; two sisters, Louise Halfman, Parsons, and Frances Butler, Escondido, Calif; a brother, Arthur, Phoenix; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a loving extended family of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, David; a daughter, Joan Atchison; and two grandsons, Travis Atchison and John Atchison.
Services will be at 1o a.m. Saturdayat St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; inurnment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A combined rosary and parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s School in care of Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.
