He was born on July 7, 1929, in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania to Nicholas and Carmela Susanna (Rialdini) Vita . Bill enlisted in the service in 1948. He fought bravely for his country during the Korean War and was wounded. He was a member of General MacArthur's personal band and was a boxer in the Army.
On July 13, 1969, Bill married Mary Cusato in Philadelphia . He was the owner of Vita Construction Company from 1970-1995.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Vita of McKinney, Texas; sons, Joe Vita and wife Stephanie of Rockwall, Texas and Bill Vita and wife Mary of Plainfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Natalie Vita , Zachary Vita , A.J. Vita and Billy Vita ; brothers, Nicholas Vita of Westchester, Pennsylvania, and Joseph Vita of Williamstown, New Jersey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Anthony and Richard Vita ; and sisters, Florence Lucci and Rita Zappasodi.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Pecan Grove Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation/rosary service from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
