VELMA - Services for Alice Spurgin, 98, will be Friday, March 9, 2007, at Freewill Baptist Church in Velma with the Rev. Garland Davidson and Bro. Carl Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Dixie Cemetery under the direction of Spivey Funeral Home.
Born on Feb. 3, 1909, in Hollis, Okla., to William S. Jonas and Missouri Ann Smith Jonas, she died March 8, 2007, in Healdton.
She and William Felix Spurgin were married on Feb. 1, 1930, in Jefferson County, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded by a son, Felix Carl Spurgin; her parents; a great-grandson, Daniel Kliewer; two brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Spurgin was a charter member of Freewill Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include two daughters, Jessie Faye Pickelsimer and Vaughn Pickelsimer, Fox; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Spurgin, Keller, Texas; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Bearers will be Michael Pickelsimer, Christopher Pickelsimer, Jeremy Cates, Chad Cates, James Kliewer and Travis Kliewer. Honorary bearers are Brittany Carroll and Jennifer Pickelsimer.
