EDGERTON—Emil P. Roeber, 74, of 304 Crescent St., died Saturday afternoon in Memorial Community Hospital after a long Illness. Mr. Roeber, an Edgerton businessman for more than 50 years, owned and published The Shopper the past 28 years. Born in Milwaukee Nov. 6, 1892, the son of William and Emma Rothe Roeber, he married Emma Thompson of Edgerton Sept. 6, 1919. He was a member of the Congregational Church, the Knights of Pythias, Conservation Club, and a longtime member of the Chamber of Commerce. Active in Masonic organizations, he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Fulton Lodge 69, F&AM, and the Madison Consistory. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Harry A. (Marjory) Palmiter, Madison; a son, Donald, Tacoma, Wash.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Roeber and Mrs. Eileen Reel, both of Chicago; two brothers, Aaron, Fond du Lac, and Arthur, Mequon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ellingson Funeral Home, the Rev. David M. Boxrud officiating, with burial in Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow evening at the funeral home where Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m Friends may contribute to a memorial fund for the Edgerton Hospital expansion project.
