She was born on October 23, 1920 in Lodomillo Township in Clayton County, the daughter of Nathanial and Alice Hammond. Sylvia received her education locally
On June 3, 1942, she was united in marriage with Elmer Frederick Schaub at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Littleport.
Sylvia spent many years preparing meals for children who attended school in Guttenberg.
She was a longtime member of St. John’s Church and Dorcas Circle. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family friends.
Sylvia is survived by her two children, Diane Loeffelholz & Fred Brenda Schaub; 4 grandchildren, Jeff Loeffelholz, Diana Loeffelholz, Cheri (John) McAuliffe & Michelle (Levi) Gieseke; 7 great-grandchildren, Ben & T.J. Henderson, Elzabeth McAuliffe, Piper & Sadie Loeffelholz, Miles & Stephanie Gieseke; sister, Bernita; brother, LeRoy “Tex” Hammond and many other relatives and friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer on January 15, 2004; granddaughter, Stephanie Schaub & son in law, Gene Loeffelholz.
