She was born in Evanston, Illinois and moved to Houston with Jim in 1954. In addition to being a devoted mother to her three children, she was recognized by her many friends, as well as those of her children, as someone who could be counted on in good times and bad as a source of counsel and advice.
A devotee of the theater since her days in Chicago, she was a long-time member of the Theater Suburbia and acted in many memorable roles over the years. Her sense of humor was widely recognized and will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service for Ruth and Jim will be held at a later date.
