EDWARD "ED" MILBURN GALLE, age 89, of Friendswood, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. He was born on August 15, 1928 in San Antonio, beloved son of Emelie Galle (nee Wanke) and Edward Galle. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ed married his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Jeanine Bess Kohlenberg, on May 26, 1950 in San Antonio. He is survived by his two sons Edward Milburn Galle, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Wimberley and Gary Lynn Galle and wife Kim of Houston, his four grandchildren Christopher Edward Galle of Houston, Alexandra Nicole Galle of Lubbock, Justin Ryan Galle of Houston, and Travis Scott Galle of Austin, and his great-granddaughter Clara Grace Galle of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and four sisters, Edna Mae Rudwick, Evelyn Selma Sands, Irene Elsie Broemer, and Gladys Mildred Galle, all of San Antonio.

Ed received mechanical engineering degrees from The University of Texas at Austin and Rice University. After serving his country in Air Force Intelligence during the Korean War, he began his engineering career in Houston at Hughes Tool Company. By the time of his retirement more than 35 years later, he was Vice President of Engineering and Research. During his career, he developed many products used in the oil and gas industry and holds more than 35 US patents. After retirement from Hughes Tool, he worked another 20 years in the industry as a consultant.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546, 281-992-7200, with Rev. Jonathan Petering officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster. Pallbearers are Edward, Gary, Christopher, Justin, and Travis Galle and Jose Espitia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Friends of Alec fund of the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.
