Harry B. Koch, 89, died Oct. 25, 2017, in Lincoln. He was born Sept. 11, 1928, to Adam and Elizabeth Koch near Roscoe. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946 and married Sarah Jane Casson on June 6, 1953. They met at the roller skating rink at 19th & O streets and were married 64 years. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and served two years, stationed in El Paso, Texas.
Harry was a partner in Brinkman Delivery Service (later Harry's Delivery Service) and the Shamrock offsale, then purchased the Wonder Bar in 1967 and owned it until 1985. He also was part-owner of Gateway Liquor. He loved interacting with patrons at Harry's Wonder Bar and established many long-lasting friendships. Harry was a longtime member of the Nebraska Licensed Beverage Association, Welfare Society Inc. and St. Paul United Methodist Church. He served on the boards of the NLBA and WSI and received many honors from the Beverage Association.
He is survived by wife Jane; sons Lee Koch (Joy Kjer), Lincoln; and Ron Koch (Angie), Lincoln; daughters Julie Koch, Martell; Anita Scofield, Lincoln; and Teri Pierce (Kelly), Lincoln; grandchildren Isabelle Creveling (Chris), Audrey Koch, Lucas Scofield, Kristin Engebretson (Colin), Jerica Koch and Savannah Pierce; sister Hermina Goodale (Galen) and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by infant son Brian, his parents, seven sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Butherus, Maser & Love, 4040 A St. Visitation with family: 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial at Lincoln Memorial after luncheon. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to St. Paul Methodist Church, 1144 M. St., Lincoln, NE.
