Der Deutsche Correspondent, Baltimore. 9-20-1917 (translated):
Yesterday the mortal remains of Frank J. Westendorf, from Neunkirchen in Oldenburg, Germany, who died September 16, were given their final resting place in Trinity Cemetery. Mr. Westendorf was 73 years old, and in December would have celebrated his golden anniversary with his wife, Mrs. Margarethe G. Westendorf, nee Hunger, had death not intervened. The coffin, adorned with magnificent flowers, was first removed from the home, No. 725 North Streeper Street, and taken to St. James Church, where Father Hüter celebrated Mass for the deceased's salvation, and then to the cemetery, where Father Hüter honored the deceased at the grave. Mr. Westendorf married nearly 50 years ago in London, England, and came to Philadelphia in 1871 and to Baltimore in 1877. The coffin was borne by members of the Shield of Honor, the Junior Order of Mechanics, and the "Ordens der Rothmänner" [order of the red men]. Mr. Westendorf leaves, besides his widow, three sons, Friedrich, Wilhelm and Franz Joseph, as well as three daughters, Mrs. Sophie Pilgrim, Mrs. Martha (Parker) Wampler and Mrs. Alma (Frederick) Huth, as well as 14 grandchildren. The firm of Tlbert [sic] Tuller took care of the funeral.
