Herb was born on a farm in Denison to Raymond and Opal Crampton. He graduated from high school in Wall Lake in 1952.

He served in the Korean War from 1953-1955. He married Margaret Ann Maude on Oct. 26, 1958. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage. Herb was employed by National Cash Registers/AT&T for 45 years.

Herb lived a life filled with service. The Elks, the Jaycee’s, the Kiwanians, the Masons and the Shriners. He was a faithful member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. He served as an elder.

Herb was elected and served on the county board of supervisors for 12 years.

Herb is survived by his wife Margaret; his sons, Scott (Lori) and Kevin (Karen); His grandchildren: Taylor (Chris), Jordan (Kathleen), Morgan and Elisabeth. Great-grandchildren, Bodhi and Quinn Underwood; and his brother, Robert (Bob) Crampton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Eula Mae and Bonnie; and brother, Don.

Services will be held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow. Graveside services are at Lawton at 3:30 p.m.

Herb was a kind and loving man. He always had time to help others. He is dearly missed by his loved ones.
