Mr. William C. Starkey, Jr., age 82, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. He was born August 13, 1935 to William C. Starkey, Sr. and Edna May Starkey Kent in Roanoke, Virginia. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, was a member of Masonic Lodge Arkansas, and a 32nd Degree Shriner.
Bill is survived by his wife, Shelby Hitt Starkey of Jasper; daughters, Carla Holloway of Cincinnati, Ohio and Connie Williams of Greenwood, Arkansas; stepdaughters, Lana Bruce of Jasper and Shannon Thompson of Gainesville; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, make donations in honor of Mr. Starkey to the Pickens County DAV. (DAV Chapter 47 of the Disabled American Veterans; James Hefner; 222 Burgess Road W; Jasper, GA 30143)
