George Peter Kazmierczak, age 90, died on Nov. 2, 2017. He was born on Aug. 1, 1927 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Max and Mary Kazmierczak (Plucinski). George served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1946 and re-enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as Staff Sergeant from 1946 until 1948.

In the late 1940s George and his brothers Richard and Arthur started a crop dusting business using and outfitting surplus Stearmans. They dusted crops in Wisconsin in the summer and Florida in the winter. In addition, George had a charter business flying a Staggerwing Beechcraft. This was eventually replaced with a Cessna 310, but it was the Staggerwing that gave him his most exciting experience. In 1958 while landing in Manaca, Cuba he was shot at by troops of the outgoing dictator, Batista. This experience provided for many hours of entertaining stories.

In 2001 he moved to northern California to be near his daughter and family. He is survived by his daughter Pam Kazmierczak and son-in-law Neal Van Alfen; granddaughter Cerise Flores; great-grandson Kai Flores; former wives Ruth Riddle and Betsy Salzmann and nephews Steve, Jim and Rick Kazmierczak. He was preceded in death by his parents Max and Mary Kazmierczak; brothers Richard and Arthur Kazmierczak and nephews William, Scott and Robert Kazmierczak.

He will be buried at the Sacramento Valley National Veterans Cemetery in Dixon, California.
