Marsha Ann Jackel, age 62, of Lamoni, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Berten and Icel Mahala (Henson) Robbins, was born August 18, 1955, in Flint, Michigan. She passed from this life on December 26, 2017, at Lamoni, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Marsha grew up in Flint and graduated from high school in 1973. She came to Lamoni to attend Graceland College. She was on a winter school trip to Texas when she met Richard Wayne Jackel. He was instantly in love, but she had to be convinced. On August 16, 1975, they were married in Flint, Michigan. They lived in Lamoni most of their married life and were blessed with three children, Peter, Samuel, and Chelsey. Marsha finished her degree at Graceland in 1992, and later earned her Master's degree in 2012.

Marsha had a long career at Graceland University working in the F.M. Smith Library, taking early retirement in 2014. She was very active in the Community of Christ church, serving as a Priest for many years. Marsha loved volunteering and teaching, as well as participating at reunions and camps at Guthrie Grove campgrounds. She was a founding member of Ceaseless Praise and used her music to minister to many people around the world. Marsha was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose life was filled with love and laughter. She will be missed by so many.

Preceding her in death were her parents and father-in-law, R. Wayne Jackel. Survivors include her loving husband, Richard "Tex" Jackel of Lamoni; children, Peter and Terrilee Jackel of Lamoni, Sam Jackel of Queens, New York, and Chelsey Jackel of Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren, Loralei and Owen Jackel; sister, Carolyn Cleveland and husband, Bill of Austin, Texas; her mother-in-law, Mary Jo Jackel of Lamoni; sister-in-law, Nancy Sherman of Lamoni; brothers-in-law, Donald and Anne Jackel of Kansas City, Missouri and Stephen Jackel of Lamoni; and other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services were held at the Lamoni Community of Christ Church in Lamoni, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018. Arrangements were through the Slade- O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Marsha and "Tex" Jackel's ashes were buried together on August 7, 2022. Her husband received firefighter honors at the gravesite.
