Douglas P. Knapp, 67, of West Winfield, passed away unexpectedly, on January 11, 2018, in the comfort of his home.

Doug was born January 1, 1951 in Utica, NY. Doug was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, and horseshoes but his favorite was basketball. He participated in the Empire State Games for several years, winning many awards for both horseshoes and basketball.

Doug was predeceased by his parents (Elmer and Thelma Knapp), two brothers (James and Robert Knapp), a sister in law (Susan Decker), and a grandson (Douglas James Morgan). He is survived by Linda, his wife of 34 years, and 3 daughters, Jessica Shapiro and husband Jonathan, Tamara Zoller and significant other Jerry, and Staci Thornton and husband Timothy. He is also survived by several grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Juleah, Carter, Cassandra, and Trevor. He will also be missed by 3 siblings, a brother Norman Knapp, 2 sisters Diane Brody and Denise Chandler, and his sister in law Michaela Knapp. Doug’s extended family includes many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as his wife’s family. Miss Pickles, the family cat, also misses her friend.
