Helen Winder, 93, of Bryan, passed away on Sunday, March 29 in her home. A visitation will be from 6 to 8pm, Tuesday, March 31, at St. Michaels Academy Chapel, 2402 South College Ave in Bryan. Funeral service will be at 11am, Wednesday, April 1 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, 1001 Woodcreek Drive, College Station. Interment will be in the College Station City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory. Helen was born in Bellville, Austin County, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Viereck. She married the love of her life L.E. Skeeter Winder Jr., September 24, 1949. Helen was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and always remained strong in her faith. She was employed with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service where she worked 20 years after retiring in 1990. In her early years, she followed L.E. around the country side watching him play softball. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching her grandkids and great grandkids play sports, and had a passion for Aggie baseball. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially fishing. Any one that knew her, knew what a selfless and compassionate person she was; always putting others in front of herself. She had a tremendous zest for life and somehow always knew what to say and how to fix things. Her greatest joy was her family. Her grandkids and great grandkids have always been the love of her life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Emma Viereck, Sister, Leona Mae Frank, Brother, Jimmy Viereck, and beloved husband L. E. Winder Jr. She is survived by her son Clay Winder; her grandchildren Nikki Winder, Dusty Winder and Erin Prihoda, Shaun Winder and his wife Michelle; Great-Grandchildren; Colten, Coy, Shelby, and Cami Winder. Helens family would like to thank all the caregivers that helped love and care for her, especially Lisa, Shira, and Carol who have been such a blessing.
