DECEASED WAS ONE OF THE BEST KNOWN GERMAN RESIDENTS OF THE CITY
PNEUMONIA CLAIMS HIM
Frank J. Rottinghause, aged 64 years, a prominent German resident of the city, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 1008 South J street. Death was due to pneumonia, the deceased having been taken ill only a few days ago.

Mr. Rottinghause is a native of Germany, but came to this county when a young man and took up his residence in Richmond, where he has lived ever since. Until several years ago he was engaged in the brick manufacturing business. The deceased was a member of the St. Andrew's church and the St. Joseph's Benevolent society of that church and took an active interest in affairs pertaining to religion. He was much respected and his sudden demise is the occasion of deep regret among his host of many friends. The funeral will take place Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from the St. Andrew's church. The burial will be in the St. Andrew's cemetery."

He was the son of Harmon and Elizabeth (Hudlerman) Rottinghaus. There is a discrepancy in his birth year. His death certificate states he was born in 1846, his tombstone states 1845.
