He retired after working as director of research for the Dole Pineapple Company. He was also an Army veteran of World War II.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, son, two grandchildren, and two sisters.
At his request, his body is being cremated. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home is caring for his arrangements.
