Dan Ernest Ulrich passed peacefully on February 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Dan was born March 29, 1930 in Austin and graduated from Burnet High School. He attended Tarleton State University and the University of Texas. Following college, he joined the Army where he served in Korea and Germany then worked for the Texas Highway Department in the engineering division for 43 years. An avid reader, Dan served 22 years on the Herman Brown Library Board in Burnet as treasurer. After his retirement he spent his days doing what he loved the most - reading, bow hunting, driving a tractor at the ranch, and spending time with his friends and family, all the while saying of each special moment, "This is the best."

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joy Ulrich; son Richard Ulrich and wife Julia; daughter Sheila Lamb and husband Roger; grandchildren Michael Stretz and wife Lizzie, Kelsey Stretz, John Lamb and wife Kristen, and Evan Lamb; and great grandchildren Zoe Stretz, Morgan Lamb, and Sydney Lamb; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at Lakeland Hills in Burnet on February 21 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for the Herman Brown Library or the Hill Country Community Foundation. Condolences may be offered to www.clementswilcoxburnet.com.
