She and George raised two children who were their pride and joy. Daughter, Doris A. Abood, Ed.D., retired FSU faculty and lives in Tallahassee, and Charles G. Abood, a University of North Florida graduate, who resides in Jacksonville. Other survivors include a sister Marie Mir who resides in Australia, a sister Renee Azour who lives in Lebanon, along with brothers Elie, Jean, Milan and Fouad Obeid. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Shaia of Cleveland Ohio, and many nieces, nephews and cousins living both abroad and in the US.
Alice was known for her creativity--whether it be home interior design, delicious meals, or fashion. She was also known for her generosity, wit, and love for learning. She never met a stranger and her warmth and genuine interest in others garnered many lifelong friends. Alice was also a devout Catholic and lived her faith daily by praying the rosary, and honoring Jesus and the Blessed Mother through acts of charity and love. During the years in which she battled many illnesses, it was the loving and professional caregiving provided by Antoinette Norelia that clearly extended her time with us. Actuelle Florestall, who also shared caregiving responsibilities, extended her kind and careful talents to create the warmth and safety so essential in times of need. Finally, the family is grateful for the kindness and responsiveness given by Community Hospice.
A funeral mass will be held at 10am, Friday, February 23, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church. The family will receive guests an hour beforehand. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Community Hospice in Alice Abood's name.
