Amos Barney Hoyt, 83, of Malin Ore., passed away with his family by his side on Feb. 17, 2018.

Barney was born in April 1934 in Canby, Calif., to Amos and Velma Hoyt. He was raised on the family ranch in Canby until he turned 16 and the family moved to Tulelake, Calif. He graduated from Tulelake High School, then went on to study diesel mechanics at Oregon Technological Institute.

During his lifetime, he served in the Army for two years, owned and operated his own family cattle ranch, grew hay and grain, volunteered on several community groups, was a devoted husband and loving father and developed and maintained numerous close friendships.

Survivors include Glenda, his wife of 47 years, and his two daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Heiney and Dana Hoyt; grandchildren, Brooke (Andrew) Smith and Jared Heiney; great-grandchildren, Audrey and Luke Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Velma Hoyt, and his son, Chuck Day.
