who was a prominent member of the growing Nazi youth movement.
Werner was also a member of the Youth SA.
He and two friends got lost during an SA training trip in Poland and froze to death just before Christmas of 1929. His brother Horst was killed just two months later. Both were buried alongside their father at the Nicolai Friedhof.
The grave site quickly became a "site of pilgrimage" for the Nazis after 1933. And even after the war, the grave was constantly either vandalized or misused for Neo-Nazi propaganda activities. In June of 2013 the cemetery administration removed the stone and the grave was leveled. It is now unmarked.
