Helen I. McQuiston, 73, of 1115 W. Eighth, died Sunday, July 2, at her home. She had been ill with cancer.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The rev. William Doran will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Medical Center Hospice program or Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. McQuiston was born Dec. 12, 1915, at Pleasanton, the daughter of Peter and Laura Pinneo Walbrecht. She grew up at Pleasanton, later moving to Grand Island High School in 1933.
She worked for the Grand Island Bakery and attended cosmetology school. After receiving a cosmetology license, she taught school at the Grand Island School of Cosmetology.
She married Harry Schubert on April 16, 1935, at Grand Island. They made their home in Grand Island. He died Dec. 20, 1943.
She married Lewis McQuiston on Feb. 3, 1945 at Lincoln. They lived here and he died May 11, 1973.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Liederkranz Society and the Elks Does.
Survivors include three children, Mrs. Wayne (Barbara) Spilker of TX, Doug Schubert of Grosse Point Woods, MI; Mrs. Dave (Roberta) Dickson of Grand Island.
