Funeral services for William 'Bill' Oeltjen will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday July 9, 2010 at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev Loel Wessel officiating. Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. and 1hr prior to the service on Friday at the Church. Bill Oeltjen, age 82, of Spring Valley went to his Heavenly Home Sunday July 4, 2010 at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center where he had resided for about a year. William Henry Oeltjen was born March 17, 1928 in Deer Park, Wisconsin he was the 6th child born to William and Anna (Panzy) Oeltjen. As a young man he lived on farms near Grand Meadow, Stewartville and Spring Valley, MN. He was baptized in Wisconsin on June 24, 1928 and was confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. He attended school through the 8th grade and entered the United States Army in 1950 serving his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Bill was united in marriage to Delores Waldemar on October 31, 1954 and to this union 4 children were born; Debra who lives at home, Steven (Stacy) and Mark (Sandy) of Spring Valley, MN and Janice (Keith) Capelle of Rochester, MN. Bill owned and operated a can milk route out of Racine, MN for over 30 years. He also farmed with his wife north of Spring Valley all of their married life. Besides his wife and children who loved him very much, he leaves to mourn 14 grandchildren; Brett (Ann), Savanah, Kyle and Marshall Oeltjen, Brooke (Nick) Schneider, Jane, Kathryn, Jessica, Billy and Tom Oeltjen, Craig, Paige, Shelby and Hope Capelle, 4 great grandchildren; Brayden, Blake and Eathan Oeltjen and Addyson Schneider. He also leaves behind 4 sisters; Mary Lou Rathbun of Rochester, Hilda (Rus) Hasse of Wyoming, Ruth (Les) Vrieze of California, Darla (Gerald) Reno of Missouri, 8 brothers; Ernest (Marge) and Albert (Karen) of Rochester, Rhieny (Arlene) and Richard (Joya) of Spring Valley, Laverne (Hanna), Marvin (Debra) and Donald all of Missouri and Melvin (Barb) of Texas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons; Matthew and Michael and 1 sister Anna and 3 brothers; Ray, Ed and Dale. Condolences may be left at www.hindtfuneralhomes.com
