Point Pleasant resident William David Quigley III died Saturday, March 24 in his home

He was 61 years old.

Born in Newark, he lived in Kearney and moved to Point Pleasant 34 years ago.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps.

He was employed in the communications industry for 40 years; retiring from Lucent Technologies in 2001. Most recently, for the last three years, he was employed as sales director with Hitachi Telecom of Norcross Ga.

He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Point Pleasant Beach.

He was a member of the United States Marine Corps Rifle Team, the BQ Mug Club — North and South, Point Pleasant Soccer Association, Point Pleasant Elks Lodge No. 1698, Knights of Columbus - St. Martha's Council of Point Pleasant, The Bell Telephone Pioneers and The Lucent Retiree Organization. He was also a soccer coach for many years and was Point Pleasant High School's "Greatest Fan and Supporter."

His greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Catherine Quigley; and his brother, David A.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret Christine Norton Quigley; two sons, Capt. William D Quigley IV, USMC of Hoboken, and Midshipman Patrick N. Quigley, United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. of Point Pleasant; and four daughters, Kelly Gray and her husband, Billy, of Point Pleasant, Erin Mitchell and her husband, Chris, of Wall, Megan Strickland and her husband, Trea of Toms River, and Tara Lewis and her, husband, David of Brick. He is also survived a brother, James A. and his wife, Chris, of Medford; three sisters, Karen Homiek and her husband, John, of

Toms River, Ellen Naughton and her husband, Bill ,of Bloomfield and Nancy Quigley of Hopatcong; eight grandchildren, Liam, Madison, Alexis,Connor, David, Amanda, Christopher and Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews.

O'Brien Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his honor to the visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, 1100 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, 07712.
