He was born on January 20, 1929 in Fillmore, IL, a son of Cecil B. and Vera (Cearlock) Adams.
Cecil was a veteran of the United Sates Air Force, having served from 1947-1950.
Mr. Adams married the former Shirley Jean Shelton on December 23, 1949 in Taylorville, IL and she survives.
He had worked as Psychiatric Aid at the Lincoln State Mental Hospital in Lincoln, IL. Mr. Adams also owned a janitorial service in Lincoln. He was also a telegrapher for the New York Central Railroad. He worked for the Nokomis Police Department for 9 ½ years and a truck driver for Hulcher Quarry and Delmar Donley Trucking in Williamsville, IL.
Cecil was an avid St. Louis Cardinals & Fighting Illini fan.
Along with his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his daughter, Sherdel Adams & partner Michl Thompson of Mt. Zion, IL and grandchildren, Dustin (Lauren) Ritter of Thomasboro & Brittany Henry of Pana; 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Rona Ritter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL. Pastor Chris Huff will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore, IL.
