Dorothy was born on January 14, 1921 at Creighton, NE to Henry and Emma (Zobel) Poppe.
She returned to the West Point/Hooper/Scribner area and later lived with the Fred and Anna Von Seggern family until her marriage to Irvin Wobken on June 30, 1941.
Irvin and Dorothy were blessed with three children.
Sadly, Irvin died March 22, 1962 (aged 46).
Dorothy lived as a widow until March 12, 1976, when she married Hans Clausen, another widower. She loved his children as her own. Hans died January 24, 2000 (aged 97), and is buried in Fremont, Nebraska.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (Cuming County Line) in Scribner and later First Lutheran Church in Fremont where she enjoyed the fellowship of the Solo’s group.
Dorothy spent much of her life as a homemaker and working various jobs. She enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers, gardening, handiwork, and playing cards. She loved to bake and visitors were always welcomed to her home with a cup of coffee and a cookie. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s activities. Her faith in God made her a stronger person and she was a wonderful example to everyone who knew her.
Dorothy L. (Poppe)(Wobken) Clausen, age 97, of Fremont, Nebraska, passed away early Friday, March 16, 2018 at Nye Legacy in Fremont.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Raymond (Sue) Wobken of Seward, NE; and his family Brett (Jessica) Wobken and their family Mckenzie and Zane Wobken of Elkhorn and Erica Wobken of LaVista; daughter-in-law, Doris Wobken of Scribner and her family Tim (Roni) Wobken and their family Shelby, Katelyn (Fiancée Casey Wisnieski ) and Lauren Wobken of Scribner; son-in-law William Schnoor of Fremont, and his family Mike (Shelly) Schnoor and their family Payton and Jordan Schnoor of Norfolk; step-son Carroll Clausen of Chesapeake, VA and his children Paula (Mark) Collins family, Pam Berie family, Penny (Rob) Titmas family, Kirk (Pam) Clausen, Greg Clausen, and the family of Chad Clausen (Deceased); sister Anita Dahl of Wahoo; sisters-in-law, Adeline Poppe of Fort Calhoun, Shirley Von Seggern of Fremont, Lorna Von Seggern of Scribner, and Volline Von Seggern of Fremont; step-grandchildren; Cyndi (Rick) Rohrs family, Diane (Ken) Vergith and Jeff Freeman family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husbands Irvin Wobken and Hans Clausen; son Richard Wobken, daughter Dianne Schnoor, grandson Bruce Wobken; sisters Margaret Kraft, Annie Poppe; brothers, Herman, Delmar, and Henry Poppe, and Art, Raymond, Rolland, Vernon, Duane, and Orville Von Seggern; step-daughter Dona (Clausen) Daniel; step-grandson Chad Clausen.
The funeral will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. The burial will be at 2 PM in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery (county line), Scribner, NE. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont, is on Monday (March 19th), 4 to 8 PM, with the family present 6 to 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church or St. John’s Lutheran Church (county line).
