Gary Patzke, a beloved long-time Klamath Falls resident fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, just over a week after his 74th Birthday. He passed peacefully, without pain or suffering in the presence of his youngest Son.

He was born to Albert “Bud” Patzke and Maxine Patzke in Enid, Oklahoma on March 4th, 1944.

Gary proudly attended Klamath Union High School. The PELICAN POWERHOUSE, Klamath Union's number 34, Gary Patzke, starred for the Whitebirds in their 1961 State Basketball Championship, earned Oregon’s High School State Basketball MVP in 1962 before going on a basketball scholarship to The University of Oregon. He graduated from Southern Oregon College (now Southern Oregon University) and was recently inducted into the Klamath Union High School Hall of Fame.

As a teen, he worked for the Bly Logging Company during the summers after school was out in the woods and mountains around Klamath Falls. He loved nature and being in the outdoors (often referring to the outdoors as his church) where he “felt closest to God”. Gary retired from his career in banking and finance to live back in Klamath Falls. Before fully retiring, he worked at the Klamath County School District Office for 11 years.

Gary was a fantastic Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather and Friend. He is survived by his Mother, Maxine; Brother, Jim; Sister, Sue; Children, Bob and Chad; 4 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild; along with several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins still living in Oregon.

He fought the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith. May his memory be eternal. +++
