Carol Arnold

On March 24, 2018, Carol Lee Arnold, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed in her sleep at her assisted living residence in Boise, Idaho. Carol suffered with Alzheimer’s and required round the clock care since 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Tuesday April 3, at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery where she will rest beside her husband, Earl N. Arnold.

Carol was born Oct. 6, 1936 in Pocatello, Idaho to Floyd Foust “Bob” and Ioan Hunter. She was the last surviving of five siblings having out lived her older brother Glen and her two older sisters Anita and Maxine. A second brother, Robert, died shortly after birth two years before Carol was born. When she was born her parents lived on Elm Street in Pocatello where Carol lived until she married. In 1939 Carol’s father was shot and killed while serving the community as a Bannock County Sherriff and Alameda Constable. Carol, her sisters, and brother were raised by their widowed, hard-working, mother Ioan, from that day on.

Carol attended and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1954. After graduation Carol went to work for the telephone company as an operator. In 1956 she met and married Earl Arnold. Carol and Earl had four sons. In 1967, Carol went to work for the US Postal Service as a rural route carrier. The family lived on Packard Avenue in Pocatello until 1970 when Mountain Bell transferred Earl to Boise. In Boise, Carol continued to work for the post office, retiring in 1996, after 29 years of delivering the mail.

After retiring, Carol and Earl enjoyed several years of camping and traveling before Earl became too sick, passing away in 2003. Earl died just days before their 47th wedding anniversary. Carol and Earl were active square dancers in Pocatello and bowled together in leagues in Pocatello and Boise. Carol enjoyed her family time, especially with the grandkids, and was always busy with crafts, creating gifts and holiday decorations.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Earl, both parents Bob and Ioan Hunter, her older brothers Glen and Robert, her older sisters Maxine and Anita, a granddaughter Rebecca, a grandson Derek and Bud Stephens, her brother in law, and a late life companion and friend. Carol is survived by her four sons and their wives, Earl and Lisa, Dale and Dixie, Gail and Twyla, and Bob and Debbie and by 11 grandchildren, Brian, Autumn, Tim, Carol, Joshua, Camille, Kyle, Willow, James, Danielle, Ethan, and eight great-grandkids.

Before becoming ill, Carol was always there for her family, willing to listen, advise, and assist in any way she could. Mom/grandma will be lovingly missed.
