Orlan Kent Ehlers was born September 20, 1960, in Marquette, Iowa. At the age of three months, Orlan was adopted by Orville and Irene (Lange) Ehlers. Orlan attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School in 1980. Orlan worked various jobs around the area before moving to Laurens and starting employment at Jack Links. Orlan considered everyone at Jack Links to be family. Orlan never knew a stranger, only friends he hadn’t met yet.

Orlan was a member of the Albert City Threshermans, where he was always sure to have some homemade ice cream before going home, the Zion Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed ringing the bell and the Lions Club. Orlan enjoyed helping his father farm in his younger years and especially loved his time of coffee and friendship.

Survivors include his sisters, Ilon (Jon) Negus of Sutherland and Connie (Melvin) Easter of Somers; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Easter, Jodie (Bernie) Cockerham, Cellie Easter, Heath Negus, Karlene Negus and Sean Negus; great-niece & nephews, Michael, Gabriel, Brooklyn and Elijah Cockerham; uncle, Dwayne (Phyllis) Ehlers of Alta and many cousins and friends. Orlan was preceded in death by his parents.
