KEARNEY — Clyde G. Ondrak, 70, of Elm Creek died Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.

A celebration of life was at 1 p.m. Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon.

There was no visitation. Cremation was chosen.

Clyde George Ondrak was born on June 26, 1947, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Bernard and Nadene (Kraft) Ondrak. In 1951, the family moved to Nebraska, and he graduated from Gibbon High School in 1965. Following high school, he attended Kearney State College.

He entered the U.S. Army on May 15, 1967, and was stationed in Germany, Korea and Japan. Clyde returned to Nebraska following his honorable discharge on Nov. 7, 1977. He worked various jobs until beginning his employment at Coleman Powermate and later Pramac. He retired from Pramac in 2013. In his retirement years, he worked at Menards.

Clyde was an intelligent, genuine and caring person. Always a country boy at heart, he loved raising chickens and rabbits. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on old cars and watching old western movies. Most of all, Clyde loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Nadene Nutter of Gibbon; his children, Barbara Obermeier of Kearney, Ken Geiger and wife Colene of Holdrege, Becky Daire and husband Daniel of Kearney, Loura Kish of Elm Creek, Angela Stone of Kearney and Brian Miska of Lincoln; 21 grandchildren; his siblings, Claudia Murr of Elm Creek, Linda Lethbridge and husband Hugh of Madison, Ga., Mary Ripp and husband Keith of Ravenna, Nancy Beruman and husband Dan, and Jerry Ondrak and wife April, all of Shelton, Bonny Schepler of Tarkio, Mo., and Patty Meister and husband Scott of Fremont; and several nieces and nephews.
