Warren Township - Russell Donald Horster, 89, died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bridgewater.

He was born April 8, 1929 in Summit, to Carl A. and Freida Smith Horster. He lived in Warren in the house his father built in 1934 for 85 years.

Russell graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1947. He later served in the Army during the Korean War. As a young man he became interested in trucking and went on to become a tractor trailer driver and ran his own company, Horster Trucking, Inc. of Warren.

He attended and was married in Springdale United Methodist Church, across the street from his farm and home. He loved his family, driving trucks, and enjoyed farming and studying war history.

He was the brother of the late William E. Horster who died in 1981.

His family includes his wife of 44 years, Erica Janke Horster, who he married March 1, 1974; two sons, Daniel J. Mundy and his wife, Debi, of Pittstown, Karl E. Horster and his wife Meghan of Warren; a daughter, Patricia M. Reichardt and her husband, Fred, of Pittstown; five grandchildren, Nicole and Alexander Mundy, Gregory and Douglas Reichardt, and Oliver Horster.

A service will be held at The Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, on Monday, April 30, 2018, at 7:00 P.M.

Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment at Springdale Cemetery will be private.
