Jennifer Hope Abernathy, 37, of Columbus died Thursday, April 26, 2018, as a result of an auto accident near Prague.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Bill L'Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Friend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Jennifer was born May 8, 1980, in Yankton, SD, to John, Sr. and Kim (Kuntz) Abernathy. She graduated from Genoa High School in 1998, and then from Platte Community College where she attained her nursing certificate. Jennifer worked in the nursing profession, always wanting to help those that were less fortunate. She worked in various places, including the Women’s Prison, and most recently at the Mid Plains Stabilization Crisis Unit in Grand Island, Nebraska. Jennifer was a very kind hearted, generous young lady. She had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed being with her family.

Jennifer is survived by her children, Dominic Abernathy, Sebastian and Alyvia Johnson; mother Kim Kuntz of Genoa, grandmother Joan Kuntz of Genoa, brother John (Amanda) Abernathy of Creston, brother Larry Abernathy of Norfolk and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins

Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandfather, Larry Kuntz.
