She was born in Aspach, Moselle, France to John Emmer and Catherine Dostert. On August 15, 1881, she came to the United States with her father and brother. She married Christ Rodawald in Hartford, Wisconsin in 1887. They never had children. She died in 1931 in Hartford, Wisconsin.

Mrs Christian Rodewald, Second Street, Hartford, died at St Joseph's Hospital Monday, January 26, at 12:45 pm, after an illness of a month and a half. Mrs Rodewald had been ailing for a much longer time with amaemia, complicated with i=other troubles. Last Friday when she had become so ill that the neighbors could no longer care for her at her home, she was taken to the hospital. However, by this time she was in such a weakened condition that she succumbed despite of the care given to her.

Mrs Christian Rodewald, nee Elizabeth Emmer, was born in France near the German boarder, January 30,1867, Hence at her death she had almost reached the age of 64 years. At the age of 14, she came to America. During her early stay here she lived in Minneapolis. For a time she and her husband, Christian Rodewald, lived in Hartford and after making their home in Minneapolis for a time, they returned to this city. Her husband preceded her in death on 6/9/1930/ Since she had no children and since her brothers and sisters preceded in death, she was very much alone during the last years of her life, and was dependent upon friends and neighbors during the last months of ill health. Previous to this last time, when she was in possession of her strength she was a hardworking and industrious woman. She lived a quiet retiring life, mingling little with people, and doing her best to fight as best she could the hard battles of life that came her way.

She died in the Catholic faith, and was buried with the last rites of that church Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at St Killian's church, where Fr. Hartmann conducted the services. Burial was made in the Union Cemetery beside the grave of her husband.
