Mariam Henniger Norwood, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on April 25, 2018.

Mariam was born on June 14, 1927, in Fayetteville, Texas, Reimund and Emma Henniger. She married Budd Norwood on December 25,1946, and was preceded by him in death April 2, 2007, after 60 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Ray Norwood on October 7, 2011.

Mariam was a devoted homemaker. Her greatest devotion was to her husband and children. Her gift was that of encouraging others. Her daughter wrote: “She epitomized Proverbs 31:10-31. She truly was the most virtuous and selfless woman I have ever known. She always put her family and others before herself.” Mariam was a strong Christian woman and was always very involved in church work.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Villella and husband, Don, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jennifer Joseph and husband, Eric, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; Ian Finch and wife Julia, of Lexington, KY; and Amy Buckels and husband Chris, of Las Vegas, Nevada; six great-grandchildren, Baylor Joseph of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Henry and Emmett Finch of Lexington, KY, and Samuel, Matthew and Kathryn Buckels of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors in Waco, Texas. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas.

Obituary for Budd A. Norwood

Budd A. Norwood, 80, of New Braunfels went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 2, 2007, after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, heart disease and diabetes.

A loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was married for 60 years to Mariam Henniger Norwood.

Mr. Norwood was born on December 9, 1926, at Aubrey, Texas. He was a WWII veteran serving in Germany He retired from the MK&T and UP Railroad after 40 years of service. Mr. Norwood served as a deacon and greeter at Oakwood Baptist Church where he was a member for the past 17 years.

Mr. Norwood is survived by his wife, Mariam: daughter, Gloria Villella and husband, Don of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; son, Stephen of New Braunfels; three grandchildren, Jennifer Joseph and husband, Eric, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; Ian Finch and wife, Julia, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Amy Buckles and husband, Chris, of Las Vegas, Nevada; four great-grandchildren, Samuel, Matthew, and Kathryn Buckels of Las Vegas, and Baylor Joseph of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania; sister, Jo Free of New Braunfels, and brother, George Norwood of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 5, at Oakwood Baptist Church, New Braunfels with a reception to immediately follow.

Interment will be at Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas, with a graveside service at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 5. Memorial contributions may be given to Parkinson’s research.
