Matthias Adam Schwenk was the fifth child of seven born to Woodford County farming pioneers Matthias Schwenk and Mary Anna Kerker. He married Anne E. Egle (of Illinois) in 1901. They subsequently moved to Nebraska to farm. Here, four children were born to them: Elmer Ray (1902-1970), Victor Roy (1904-1995), Alton B. (1909-1987), and Olen Gilbert (1921-1979). We also know that he farmed in Tampico Mexico for a period of time after the birth of his first two children, ultimately returning to Nebraska.
