He was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Cleveland. He had been a resident of Sheffield Lake for the past 26 years, moving from Cleveland. Sheldon was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a technical writer and supervisor for product information with Lear-Romec, Elyria, for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle catholic Church, Sheffield Lake. He was an avid reader and history buff. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Nadene (nee Cyran) of Sheffield Lake; daughters Kim Sheldon of Parma Denise Dechant of Elyria; son, Edward T. Sheldon Jr. of Avon Lake; sisters Rosemary Eischen of Berea, Susan Gossler of Muster, Ind. and Nancy Sheldon of Rocky River; brothers Richard Sheldon of Brookpark, Gilbert I. Sheldon of Steubenville and James Sheldon of Denver, Colo.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ignatius and Stephanie (nee Oleszewski) Sheldon; sisters Jane and Betty; and brothers John, Bob and Bill. Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 715 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake. Bishop Gilber I. Sheldon, brother of the deceased, will officiate. Contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, Lorain is in charge of local arrangements.
