He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyce Taylor and Frances Baird Griffith of LaFollette, and sister, Gwendolyn Rector of Annapolis, Md.
Boyce is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana W. Griffith; sons, Boyce E. Griffith and wife Emma W. Griffith of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Adam Reid Griffith of Pasadena, Calif.; grandson, Elijah Taylor Griffith of Chapel Hill, N.C.; brothers, Dr. John Griffith of Houston, Texas, and James E. Griffith and wife Carol Griffith of Washington, D.C.
Boyce worked for Oak Ridge National Labs and Oak Ridge Associated Universities, both of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
He was inquisitive and innovative, using his skills in Mechanical Engineering, as well as his Master’s degree in Electric Power. His most recent interest was that of an environmentalist. He walked 10-12 miles daily along the Melton Lake and Haw Ridge trails. Boyce was recognized by the Oak Ridge City Council for his inspiration to people to keep the trails clean.
The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN, on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m.
